Branding is the single most important aspect of your company, it is what pulls in customers, sparks their curiosity, and is the start of their connection to your business. It explains who you are.
1. Easy to Recognise
There is a see of the brand out there and the most memorable are the ones that are easy to recognize Apple, Nike, even McDonalds. Yes, they have millions of dollars at their disposal, but their logos were theirs from the start and even as they evolve they are still recognized and even mimicked. So whether it's clean and modern, or regal and intricate, it doesn't matter as long as it is clear that it is your brand.
2. Define Yourself
It is easy to get lost in what your competitors are doing, but the reason you're out here trying to make money, is different to theirs. Your brand has something else to offer. Define it. Stand by it. Before you know it loyal customers will be coming your way. Everything a brand does should be to serve their core values. Which in turn will serve your customers.
3. Think Long Term
Think of all the brands that you love, the one thing they usually have in common is that their logo is timeless, yeah it might change a little bit over time, but the essence of the brand stays the same. This theme will follow throughout every aspect of their business:
How the serve their customers, is it 1-on-1 or through a Queue?
Their packaging, will it work online as well as in store?
Web design, Is it clear that this is the same brand the consumer saw on Instagram last week?
These are all things that need to be considered.
4. Let Creativity Shine
Even if you're a law firm this is your opportunity to leading in design, think outside of the box. If creativity isn't your strong suit then hire a graphic designer, they will translate your company into a brand. They can even give you guidance on future use of colour, and branding.
5. Continuity and Quality
This is the biggest mistake that brands make, changing their logo too often, their colour palette, blurry pictures, badly cropped screenshots these are all mistakes that will tarnish your brands reputation. Take the time to establish your branding guidelines throughout your branding development, this means that in-store, website, social media and marketing content all follow the same rules. Otherwise it comes across to potential customers that you don't know what you are doing. It's a lot to keep in mind, and this just scratches the surface. If you don't have the time or knowledge, hire someone! You'll be thankful you did. If you like more guidance you can book a consultation with Aoife's Social
